Year Old Lakeside Liquor Adapts to Pandemic Through Home Deliveries

When Jas Singh flipped on the light switch and unlocked the doors at his new Lakeside Liquor business in Stevensville just over a year ago, the last thing he ever expected to do was to offer delivery service to the community at large. Unfortunately, these are not ordinary times, and in order to keep his small business enterprise alive during the pandemic, Singh has adapted, hoping to thrive.

In mid-March of 2019, Jas Singh launched his new business at 1733 W. John Beers Road in Stevensville across from the Walgreens Pharmacy at John Beers & Cleveland Avenue. His business was a bit rocky at times with peaks and valleys along the way, but just when he seemed to be hitting his stride, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s shelter-in-place executive order threatened to knock the wind out of him.

While liquor stores are on the approved “essential” list under the executive order, as more and more people committed to staying put and social distancing, Singh knew that he had to do something or run the risk of going out of business in the shadow of his first anniversary.

As a result, Singh says his business has pioneered home delivery service to combat the spreading of the COVID-19 Virus. He says, “By encouraging our community to stay home and order delivery, we can help keep everyone safe and honoring the Governor’s order.”

Lakeside Liquor delivery hours are 2 PM to 8 PM, 7 days a week. Singh says, “We can deliver anything we have in stock and can accommodate for special orders, as well, however, we only accept credit cards and people need to have their state and government ID available upon delivery.”

Those interested can order through the website below or call in at (269) 287-3152. Here’s the direct link: http://www.lakesidemegaliquor.com

Singh adds, “The community can call us for any delivery that is further than 40 miles out.” You can also keep tabs on what Lakeside is up to on their Facebook fan page.
