Even the ravages of winter storms and extreme water levels on Lake Michigan can’t keep Silver Beach in St. Joseph from making the Top 25 Beaches in the United States this year according to the team at world renowned travel website Trip Advisor.
Saying, “Yeah, we wish we were there, too. White sand, rugged coastlines, the works — these are the beaches that travelers say are the world’s best,” Trip Advisor authorities list the Top 25 Beaches in the United States, and right there at #24 is Silver Beach County Park on the shores of Lake Michigan.
The famed local beach is certainly in good company, with Siesta Beach at Siesta Key, Florida atop the list, followed closely by St. Pete Beach in St. Petersburg, Florida and Ka’anapali Beach in Lahaina, Hawaii. Beaches in Pensacola and Clearwater, Florida round out the top five on this year’s list released this week by Trip Advisor.
In fact, Silver Beach is the only freshwater beach to make the list for 2020, with all other beaches on the hot list being coastal locations on both sides of the country and in Hawaii.
The designation is another major boost to the efforts of Cornerstone Alliance and King Media to enlist potential new residents to our shores through their “Vacay Everyday” campaign designed to help spike population growth across Michigan’s Great Southwest.
Other major publications like Conde Nast Traveler have been touting the region as a top draw for tourists in recent months, a move that is key to many recreation, lodging, dining and retail businesses who rely on the explosive growth of the warmer months to keep the lights on and the bills paid.
