WMTA Issues Call to West Michigan Photographers

Attention all you Facebook photo fiends who share with us your sparkling sunsets, your luxurious lighthouses, and your vivid vineyards — there’s a new photo contest that’s right up your alley, and you’ve got about a month to sort through what you’ve already created or start lining up your lens for new stuff.

The West Michigan Tourist Association (WMTA) has announced today the launch of their 2017 West Michigan Photo Contest. The contest is looking for traveler photo submissions from all around West Michigan. The region covers the entire west side of Michigan from the Indiana border to Mackinac Island and on into the Upper Peninsula as well.

If you’re planning to get involved, all photo entries must be received by July 31st, 2017 for public voting by WMTA’s Facebook audience. All winning photos will be featured in WMTA’s upcoming West Michigan Carefree Travel Guide, printed in January of 2018. The first place photo will also be featured on the cover of the Guide.

Additional prizes awarded to the top three photos include items from Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids, Indigo Bluffs Resort RV Site at Empire, Lewis Farms of New Era, Electric Bike Place in Grand Haven, and Michigan’s Adventure near Muskegon.

The accepted photo formats are high resolution (300 dpi+) jpeg or tiff. CMYK is preferred. Email your submissions to PhotoContest@WMTA.org and include your full name, the city that the photograph was taken, and a short description of the photo. You must submit one photo per email, however, multiple entries per person are allowed.

Since 1917, the West Michigan Tourist Association (WMTA) has worked to market the very best of West Michigan to travelers from around the world. As they celebrate 100 years this year, that commitment continues in new and exciting ways.

The organization’s membership base consists of more than 800 attractions, lodging facilities, events, and activities all across the west side of Michigan, from the Indiana border all the way into the Upper Peninsula. Over the past century, Michigan’s tourism industry has become second to only manufacturing in Michigan, making WMTA a vital resource for the area’s tourist destinations.

If you know a photographer friend with really great material, you might want to share this message with them so they can submit entries for consideration.
