Whirlpool Laundry Donations Helping Health Care Keep Clean

Whirlpool Corporation is continuing to help the healthcare community during the pandemic, this time with donations of laundry equipment to a hospital in Ohio that has served the community for more than 100 years running.

Whirlpool’s Clyde plant recently donated three washer/dryer pairs to The Bellevue Hospital in Bellevue, Ohio. That hospital has been in continuous service for over 100 years, helping communities across that region including the nearby city of Clyde, where the plant builds washing machines under multiple brand names, including Whirlpool and Maytag.

Dennis Sabo is Director of The Bellevue Hospital Foundation. He says, “With Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in very short supply for our clinical staff, we are being forced to look at alternatives,” and adds, “Reusable protective gowns and other supplies can be washed and dried on-site using these machines.”

The plant is also donating a number of additional laundry machines to other area hospitals, including Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. The total number of washers and dryers donated to area hospitals comes to 16 laundry pairs.

Plant Lead Dan O’Brien at Whirlpool’s Clyde operations says, “Several team members at the Clyde plant worked diligently to make this donation a reality,” and adds, “This donation also includes help from our fellow employees at our Marion plant, who provided the dryers. It’s been a pleasure to watch how our plants and our employees have come together to help our local communities and our brave healthcare workers during this crisis.”

Here in Southwest Michigan, healthcare workers got a huge boost recently in delivery of a substantive level of personal protection equipment to Spectrum Health Lakeland. You can read that story at the link below:
