Whirlpool has honored its history by naming part of its St. Joseph Tech Center for the Upton family.
Whirlpool this week hosted a dedication event to name the outdoor terrace at the center the Upton Terrace.
Retired Congressman Fred Upton was on hand along with several other Upton family members. They were joined by Whirlpool CEO Marc Bitzer and company Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Pam Klyn, among others.
A plaque dedicating the terrace to Louis and Frederick Upton was unveiled, recognizing what it calls their “integrity, vision, and courage as inspirational leaders in the industry and for their immeasurable contributions to the community.”
Whirlpool was founded as the Upton Machine Company in 1911.
