What Does the Future Hold for BH?

Anybody who has ever wished for, hoped for, dreamt of, or made plans to be a part of the resurgence of downtown Benton Harbor is being invited by the Downtown Development Authority to bring this wishes, hopes, dreams and plans to one of four different forums they will host at the Benton Harbor Public Library over the next 10 days.

Benton Harbor Downtown Development Authority President Richard Hensel is asking all interested parties to join the discussion regarding priorities for the community so that his DDA team will have a solid guide to consider in making plans for future work throughout the downtown district, to tie in with the city's master plan and beyond.

Hensel will ask community stakeholders to consider and discuss those plans, ideas, dreams and more as the community sorts through options the DDA hopes to hear beginning tomorrow.

Ideas and suggestions from community business and property owners, downtown neighborhood residents, the residents of the great community at large, and others are being sought in the series of meetings as the DDA gathers them up, refines them, and hopefully presses them into action going forward.

Here's the line up that DDA has established for the forums seeking input:

  • Tuesday, September 13th — Business owners & developers are asked for input…
  • Thursday, September 15th — Residents & Neighborhood Stakeholders are invited…
  • Tuesday, September 20th — Government Agencies, Public Officials and Community Development Officials are asked for ideas…
  • Thursday, September 22nd — Residents, Non-Profit Agencies, Educators and the Media are asked for input…

All forums will take place at the Benton Harbor Public Library with time set aside from 6pm until 7:30pm at 213 East Wall Street, across from Benton Harbor City Hall.
