Watervliet Public Schools sets out on literary journey

On Tuesday, April 9, an estimated 700 students from Watervliet Public School will embark on what organizers term, “an exciting literary journey” as they bring home a special book to read with their families.

Throughout the month of April, Watervliet students, alongside their families, will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the pages of a captivating novel, both at home and within the school environment.

This initiative is part of the One District, One Book program, facilitated by the non-profit organization Read to Them, with the aim of strengthening the educational bond between home and school.

Watervliet Public Schools joins numerous schools and districts across North America in embracing this family literacy strategy. Families will engage in discussions about the story at home, while students will participate in trivia questions and creative extension activities at school.

To culminate this month-long literary celebration, students and families from both South and North divisions will be invited to a Trivia Night centered around the chosen book.

Participants will have the opportunity to win additional books, further fostering a love for reading.

Community involvement is welcomed and encouraged. If you have questions, reach out to Watervliet Public Schools.
