Walberg seeking $13 million for projects in Berrien, Cass

More than $13 million is being sought for projects in Berrien and Cass counties by Congressman Tim Walberg. His office tells us he’s submitted his allotted community projects to the House Appropriations Committee. Among the items is $3 million for the construction of Berrien County’s new 911 center. Walberg says that will improve public safety, the economy, and the response to incidents at the nuclear power plant. Also, Walberg has asked for $620,000 for the village of Michiana to replace water mains on Creek Drive and Lake Shore Drive, $2.1 million for the Niles-Buchanan Trail Connection, $2 million for the Roosevelt Road Shared Use Path in Lincoln Township, $2.5 million for the implementation of a waterfront master plan in New Buffalo, and $3.2 million for a water plant in Marcellus. Walberg says he met with officials throughout the area about their needs before seeking the funds. He says, “water infrastructure improvements, emergency service operation upgrades, and economic development projects all provide tremendous value to our local communities.”
