The President, Clerk and Treasurer of the Village of Baroda have resigned today after many years of service to the community, saying simply, “it’s time.”
In the case of Village President Bob Getz, it will be a retirement, after he delivered a hand-written note saying: “After much thought and soul searching I have decided to retire from my position as Village President effective March 19, 2021. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time as President and am very proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish over the last 18 years. Part of being a good leader is knowing when to step aside and in my heart I know that it’s that time. Respectfully, Bob Getz.”
Village Clerk/Treasurer Tina Martin shared a type-written message addressed “To the Baroda Village Council,” saying: “After nearly 9 years of serving the Village of Baroda, I have decided it is time for me to move on. I have thoroughly enjoyed my tenure here at the Village and serving the community, which I have grown to love and adore. I have learned so much from the elders and business owners in the community and will miss all of them. I am proud for the many accomplishments we have made over the course of my years here as Clerk, and I truly hope the progress continues.” Martin goes on to add, “I plan to assist in a smooth transition with a new hire, as well as wrap up the end of the fiscal year, and get things started for the 2021-2022 fiscal year. My last day will be April 13, 2021. Sincerely and respectfully, Tina Martin, Clerk/Treasurer”
There was no immediate indication if there was any particular incident or occurrence that triggered the retirement and resignation or if one followed the other, but the Village will have its work cut out to replace long-running leadership at the Village Hall.
