Relocating a highly successful business some 500 miles and essentially starting over is a tough enough venture, but when a global pandemic strikes at the heart of your build-up plan, things can get discouraging. Mike Paulinski, however, refuses to be discouraged because he knows the skill and talent he has honed for more than a decade is just what some people need, they just need to discover him. Paulinski owns and operates Final Touch Auto Detailing, currently anchored at his home-based shop as he continues the search for the perfect place to drop anchor in a detail shop.
Paulinski moved to Michigan’s Great Southwest a little over two years ago when his wife took a new job with Whirlpool Corporation, relocating from Saint Paul, Minnesota. He operated an auto detailing business there for just over 10 years, and after being uprooted from that space has been working hard in our area to reestablish his new business.
Mike admits, “Growing this new business in Southwest Michigan has been a challenge and is still off to a slow start, not unexpectedly when I’m still meeting people and getting my story out, especially when there is plenty of competition, but then you throw in the pandemic, and it just doubles down the difficulty factor.”
While he currently does most of his work out of his home-based shop, he does offer some mobile service options as well.
Paulinski recently added IGL’s top ceramic coating, IGL Kenzo, to his repertoire. Paulinksi brings more than 15 years of detailing experience, having grown up around the industry, saying, “I took to it right away and was cleaning cars for customers before I could even drive.”
His talent within the industry has not gone unnoticed inasmuch as he has had opportunities to detail some of world’s most valuable vehicles at Mecum Auctions, the World’s Largest Collector Car Auction and many similar event settings.
