Van Buren Conservation District names new director

The board of directors of the Van Buren Conservation District has appointed a new director for the organization. Emilly Hickmott will take the position, effective October 1. She’s currently the deputy administrator of the district. Hickmott started with the group in 2018 as the recycling coordinator. The Van Buren Conservation District says she’s worked to expand recycling education and access, support the agricultural community, and address landowner concerns. In her new role, she’ll oversee the staff and lead efforts to meet conservation challenges. The board says Hickmott “embodies the mission of the conservation district.” The district is preparing to mark its 80th anniversary next year.
