United Federal Credit Union (United) was pleased to donate more than $13,800 to 48 local families and organizations in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio as part of its 2022 Pay It Forward initiative.
As part of Pay It Forward, United provided $20 to every employee to give to a needy individual, family, or organization of their choice. Many departments and branches combined funds and even added their own financial contributions to create a more substantial donation, further demonstrating the passion Team United has for its members and communities.
Organizations supported by United employees in Michigan, Marion, Ohio, and northern Indiana in 2022 include: Adopt-a-Family Program, Animal Aid, Angels in the Attic, Berrien County Animal Control, Berrien County Cancer Service, Christmas Clearing House, Cultivate Food Rescue, El Campito Child Development Center, Ferry Street Resource Center, Foster Closet of Berrien County, Guardian Angels Suitcases 4 Kids, Hannah’s House South Bend, Harbor Country Mission, Home for Our Troops, Hope Resources, Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan, Humane Society of St. Joseph County, HuasdfLory’s Place, Marion Area Humane Society, , The Morgan Ashley Fox Foundation, One Simple Wish, Our House of the Way, Redbud Ministries, Ronald McDonald House, St. Mary’s, The Salvation Army Benton Harbor Corps, The Salvation Army of Holland, Senior Nutrition Center, Toys for Tots, The Trevor Project, The Trey Gray Foundation, United Through Motherhood, Veteran Service Dogs, as well as multiple families, and paying off lunch money debts at Buchanan Community Schools.

United President/CEO Terry O’Rourke credited the company’s culture and the dedication to service by employees for the Pay It Forward program’s continued growth and success.
“It is fantastic to see the wide range of ways each individual and department find to offer extra help during the holiday season in our communities,” said O’Rourke. “Team United is committed to helping our neighbors every day of the year, and during the holidays they always step up and go the extra mile.”
Collectively, United employees donated more than $20,900 to 71 different families, individuals, and community organizations across the six states where branches are located.
The Pay It Forward program began in 2008 with a request from employees that they use the money otherwise spent on internal holiday celebrations to help people in the community.
