The latest local financial merger will be largely completed with ceremonial ribbon cuttings later this month. Last fall plans were announced for the uniting of Edgewater Bank (Edgewater) and United Federal Credit Union (United), with former Edgewater locations changing over to the United name and brand on May 1st. The four branches now carrying the United name include Bridgman, Coloma, Royalton, and downtown St. Joseph will be celebrating this month as the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber hosts ribbon cuttings at each.
United officials say the ribbon cuttings will not only allow for each branch to celebrate their new name, but also recognize each team that has assisted in making sure the transition has gone smoothly for their customers. They point out that one of the key components in creating a new partnership between the two financial institutions is the ability to continue to allow for local banking decisions to remain local.
Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber of Commerce ribbon cuttings are open to the public to attend, or may be viewed via Facebook Live (facebook.com/smrchamber).
