UFCU Donates Retired Fleet Vehicle to Harbor Habitat for Humanity

While the facilities team at United Federal Credit Union had largely exhausted the usable life of one of its fleet vehicles, that same truck will rapidly emerge from retirement and be pressed into action at Harbor Habitat for Humanity thanks to the credit union’s generous donation to them.

Harbor Habitat for Humanity is delighted that United Federal is donating the retired facilities fleet vehicle – a 2004 Ford Ranger with an accompanying plow.

Erin Hudson is Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer at Harbor Habitat for Humanity. She says, “Harbor Habitat depends on gifts from valuable community partners like United Federal Credit Union because not only do they generously support our mission, they also serve to remind us of the value of each and every donation.” She adds, “We truly appreciate United Federal Credit Union and the contributions they make to this community.”

Harbor Habitat believes that everyone should have a healthy, affordable place to call home. The organization focuses on building communities by partnering with organizations, corporations and individuals to help families break the cycle of poverty and build long-term financial security.

United Federal, which is headquartered in St. Joseph, Michigan also sports branches across Arkansas, Indiana, elsewhere in Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, and Ohio, continues its mission to support the communities in which it serves by working with committed charity partners and community organizations for almost seventy years.

United Federal President & CEO Terry O’Rourke says, “We spend time every day finding ways, both big and small, to support the communities UFCU calls home,” and adds, “By donating to trusted, charity leaders like Harbor Habitat for Humanity, we can make a real impact.”

Harbor Habitat will use the vehicle to transport building materials and volunteer lunches to build sites. The donated truck will also be used to plow snow at the organization’s headquarters and the Harbor Habitat ReStore.

Harbor Habitat for Humanity is a Christian non-profit housing ministry that seeks to eliminate inadequate housing by engaging the community and partnering with families to provide them with a safe, decent and affordable place to call home. In order to make homes affordable to low-income families, the organization seeks and encourages the support of volunteers to build each house. Houses are sold at no profit with a long-term, interest-free mortgage. Monthly mortgage payments are used to finance additional Habitat homes.
