Set for tonight, August 24, is the Tru Dat Music Festival in Stevensville.

Tru Dat Praise and Worship Ministry is organizing the event along with a coalition of churches around the region. Tru Dat’s Thomas Ackerman tells us the multi-denominational Christian music fest will feature We the Kingdom as it seeks to bring people together.

“The ministry is about music and about gratitude for the Lord, and what we do is we break down church walls and get all the churches and all the businesses to come together in unity, and it’s a great way to fight the enemy right now when the world’s in such a bad place,” Ackerman said.

Ackerman says more than 70 churches and hundreds of businesses are part of the Tru Dat Music Festival. The event at Christ Lutheran School is expected to attract thousands of people.

“It’s the third year we’ve done it at Christ Lutheran and each year it keeps growing and it’s been amazing. Every year has been truly, truly amazing.”

Ackerman says they had about 2,000 people last year, and this year the event is raising money for the Berrien County Suicide Prevention Coalition.

Also performing will be KB and Ariana McLean-Garcia, and they’ll have food trucks and Kids Zone to keep everyone comfortable.

Ackerman says the Tru Dat Music Festival is a great way to spend a Saturday in a spirit of love and unity knowing that since it’s a Christian crowd, there’s not likely to be any trouble.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the gate. You can learn more right here. Gates open at 5 p.m. with the show starting at 7 p.m.
