Keith Traska is the new principal at Trinity Lutheran School in St. Joseph.
Traska has been in education for over 22 years, in both Lutheran and public schools. He received his undergrad degree in Education and Mathematics from Concordia University Wisconsin, and his Masters in Education from National Louis University. He is finishing up a principal training program through ALSS.
Traska has coached numerous sports but specializes in basketball and soccer. He also has experience in landscaping after running a side landscaping and home improvement business for almost 20 years.
Keith told us he has a great passion for education and is driven to help programs go from ‘good to great’!
Traska has been married to his wife Kay, for 21 years. They have three children. Stryker is the oldest at 16 and will be a junior at Michigan Lutheran this year. He enjoys soccer, landscaping, and band. Peytra, their daughter, will be an 8th grader at Trinity, and she enjoys music, theater, and taking care of animals. Zion is their youngest at 10, and will be in 5th grade at Trinity. He enjoys reading and video games.
The family moved here after spending the last two years in Minnesota, where Kay was a Spanish teacher and NHS advisor, and Keith was a math teacher, varsity girls soccer coach, and varsity boys basketball coach. This past season Keith was named the Minnesota River Conference coach of the year for basketball. Before Minnesota, the Traska’s lived in Wisconsin for almost 20 years, so, with a smile, they admit to being Green Bay Packer fans.
The new Trinity principal is a movie buff, with his all-time favorite being ‘Gladiator’ and his recent favorite ‘Top Gun Maverick’. Favorite actor? Robin Williams.
