Time to Find “The Coolest Thing Made in Michigan” with the MMA

At a time when many businesses were brought to a virtual standstill across the country, a number of Michigan manufacturers, including those in Michigan’s Great Southwest, stepped up to make a huge difference during the pandemic. Now, the Michigan Manufacturers Association is taking nominations for several key awards in the manufacturing sector, including “The Coolest Thing Made in Michigan.”

Nominations for the 2020 MFG Excellence Awards are open through Friday, August 21st. The awards program annually recognizes Michigan manufacturing’s lifelong and emerging leaders and the outstanding businesses that thrive throughout the state.

John Walsh, MMA President & CEO, says, “This year has shown the very best of manufacturing as they have stepped up to lead, they’ve shown a commitment and dedication to their local communities and they tapped into incredible ingenuity to create life-changing and often life-saving products.” He adds, “I believe the nominees for 2020 will include some of Michigan’s most inspiring stories and I cannot wait to see who gets selected as our MFG Excellence Award winners.”

After nominations close, online voting begins on Monday, August 31st, 2020. Votes will be cast first to narrow nominations down to a list of 10 finalists before a second round of voting determines the overall winner. The winning company and its product will be revealed at the 2020 MFG Excellence Awards.

Walsh says, “I’m excited to see what products Michigan will nominate and who is going to ultimately win this award,” and adds, “The idea of what’s ‘cool’ is different for everybody. I want to see people nominating the big and exciting products and also all of the things Michigan makes that you never hear about. When the people of Michigan see all of these cool and unique creations side-by-side, it’s going to be interesting to see how they cast their vote.”

You can nominate for other awards online at http://mimfg.org. Winners will be determined by teams of independent judges and based on the content and quality of the nominations. Criteria may include, but is not limited to:
