Dr. Kalin and her team of therapists make a huge impact on the community. She has put together a fantastic group that works daily with the community, helping people heal from trauma, navigate tough times, and learn coping skills. Thrive is breaking down stereotypes surrounding mental health!
In your own words, why do you think this company deserves to be declared to be one of the 20 Best Places to Work in Michigan’s Great Southwest?
This group is smart, fun, compassionate, and committed to helping people live their best lives! Dr. Kalin is an outstanding psychologist, and her clients are lucky to have her, but so are her employees. She is our biggest cheerleader!
What makes workers proud to say they work there, and keeps them a part of the team?
Our camaraderie! We are all trying to make a difference in our clients’ lives. Working in a group that deals with very sensitive issues really creates a bond between coworkers. We all lean on each other while serving our clients.

Dr. Kalin is quick to praise! She is always recognizing teammates for work well done and giving them credit for new ideas! We have staff meetings, and every day our reception area is filled with staff hanging out together, eating lunch, and bouncing ideas off of each other.
What one thing is special about your nominated company that most people in the community have no idea actually happens there, but should be shouted from the rooftops because it’s that cool?
The way Dr. Kalin and these therapists care and worry about their clients. People would be shocked at how invested their therapist is in seeing them happy and successful. When a client is in a tough spot, their therapist is not just thinking about them for that one hour they are in the office.
Give us three employee perks or benefits that you think make the company you have nominated worthy of a Best Places to Work trophy?
- Dr. Kalin is hands down the best boss I’ve ever worked with!
- Going to work is actually fun. Sunday scaries is not a thing at Thrive!
- There is always someone to work out your own personal problems with. We support each other in our outside lives as well!

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Mitzi Kalin. What she has created in Thrive is something others should strive for.
