The village of Three Oaks is set to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the beloved 1989 film “Prancer” this Saturday.
The all-day event, dubbed Prancerpalooza, will feature festive holiday treats, a photo opportunity with a Prancer lookalike, and a chance to experience the village as it appeared in the movie.
Organizer Richard Smith mentioned that there will also be special screenings of the film.
“We have screenings of the movie at one o’clock and six o’clock at the Vickers Theater located at 6 North Elm Street,” Smith says. “Each showing is going to be followed with a panel discussion with John Hancock, Rebecca, Rutanya Alda.”
Highlights of the day include the Prancer parade showcasing several cast members, a model of the village of Three Oaks from the film, and a tribute to those who contributed to the film’s creation.
“We had so many volunteers on this committee that just really put their best efforts into it and we’re so excited to have Rebecca coming back and Rutanya coming back,” Smith says. “It’s going to be an amazing weekend just celebrating this beautiful movie.”
The festivities are set to take place this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. in downtown Three Oaks.
