It’s National Small Business Week. President and CEO of the Midwest Independent Retailers Association, Bill Wild, the former mayor of Westland, says small businesses have a lot to deal with now.
“They’re not immune from the changes we’re seeing to the economy, and they just came through COVID and are working on supply chain issues just like the big businesses, and they struggle with labor just like everybody else,” Wild said. “At the end of the day the small businesses are an important economic engine for local communities, but also for the national economy as well.”
Wild says those small business that are dependent on labor have struggled to find workers, especially grocery stores. He is concerned about the possibility of a recession, but says hopefully we can push back against that because many businesses are still recovering from the pandemic.
