Taylor Rental/Party Plus is being sold. The business has announced it will be sold to Michiana Rental on August 21.
After 47 years in business on M-139 in Benton Harbor, Jim and Lois Ashbrook of Bridgman are selling their business and retiring.
The new owners are Daniel and Erin Tiser of Edwardsburg, who run three other locations of their business, Michiana Rental, in Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana. The Tiser family will begin operating the Benton Harbor location effective Monday, August 21, and the new store will not be affiliated with Taylor Rental/True Value.
Taylor owner Lois Ashbrook says she and Jim Ashbrook are “excited to see Michiana Rental prosper and grow in the experienced hands of the Tiser’s.”
Taylor Rental opened In April 1976 when Lois and Galen Mundwiler bought the Taylor Rental franchise. After the passing of her husband in 1986, Lois continued to run the business as a single mom until meeting Jim Ashbrook, who became her partner in business and in life when they married in 1990.
With the sale of Taylor Rental/Party Plus, Jim says, “Endings can be bittersweet, but we embrace this change and look forward to travel and time with our family.”
