Tax Day is nearing. The deadline to file or ask for an extension is April 18 this year. According to the IRS, more than 165 million people filed returns last year, and many have already filed this year. How about those who haven’t filed yet? Tax Source Group founder Brian Harvey has some tips, especially for last minute business filers.
“Make sure you have your finger on the pulse of what you’re doing in respect to your job, make sure that your W4 is filled out correctly,” Harvey said. “For the contractors who have W9s, make sure your W9s and things like that are in place. For a lot of the entrepreneurs who are contractors, make sure that your contracts are in place.”
Harvey also says it’s important for individuals and businesses to file on time to avoid fees and penalties. If you do need additional time, make sure to file for an extension.
