If you’ve got reservations this weekend with Chef John Paul VerHage and the cast and crew at Tabor Hill Winery & Restaurant in Buchanan, you’ve scored one of the hottest tickets in all of America according to USA Today. In fact, you can help move the needle even higher for Tabor Hill by taking a moment to cast your personal ballot for the USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice winners between now and August 15th for the title of Best Winery Restaurant in the USA.
We’ve all known for years here in Michigan’s Great Southwest about Tabor Hill Winery & Restaurant, our own local gem. Now, however, General Manager Landeck’s team has been officially recognized as one of the Top 20 American Winery Restaurants in the nation. Tabor Hill is the only Michigan winery to receive a nomination, and is one of just three Midwest wineries in the running, up against places like Napa Valley and others.
Built on the philosophy that exquisite wines are at their best when matched with an outstanding culinary complement, Tabor Hill’s restaurant serves classic dishes with a unique twist and incorporates fresh, locally-sourced ingredients from area farms.
The USA Today Top 20 nominees were determined by a panel of wine and travel experts, but the 10 Best Winery Restaurants will be determined by public vote. From now through noon on August 15th, voters may cast their ballot once per day for their favorite winery restaurant. To vote for Tabor Hill, click the link below:
Paul Landeck says, “Our rural setting comes with a set of very unique challenges — like bumpy roads and the occasional power outage — but just the same, guests find their way here and return time and time again. The amazing view of our rolling vineyards goes perfectly with the exquisite dishes prepared by Chef VerHage — a hard to beat combination you won’t find most places.”
USA Today says that the Top 20 American wineries not only produce top-notch wines, they also operate excellent on-site restaurants where diners enjoy local cuisine, often made with local, seasonal ingredients, and paired with fantastic wines.
Tabor Hill serves lunch and dinner year-round. It is a premier dining destination for locals and tourists alike, drawing in many visitors from Chicago and the surrounding Midwest area. Under the direction of Chef VerHage, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, guests enjoy artisan dishes that pair perfectly with the wine crafted by Tabor Hill’s Winemaker Mike Merchant.
Tabor Hill also offers vineyard tours, wine tastings and fine dining at their main location in Buchanan. They also feature tasting rooms in Saugatuck and Bridgman, with some wines available for sale at many retail outlets.
At the time of this posting, Tabor Hill was currently #14 on the Leaderboard. The current top vote-getter is the Restaurant at Leoness Cellars in Temecula, California, followed by The Restaurant at King Estate Winery in Eugene, Oregon and the Fork & Spoon at Los Pinos Ranch Vineyards iin Pittsburg, Texas.
