Pledging to continue to strengthen the community while helping meet critical hospital and patient needs, the Southwestern Michigan Association of Realtors has announced an upcoming Community Blood Drive in partnership with the American Red Cross.
The Realtors association will act as host for the community blood drive in partnership with the Red Cross on Wednesday, July 29th from 12:00 noon to 5:45 pm at Hidden Pointe Hall, located at 1062 Nickerson Avenue in Benton Harbor.
To make an appointment to donate, anyone can sign up online at http://redcrossblood.org with the sponsor code SWMAR.
Carolee Dalrymple, Chair of the Association’s Public Relations Committee, says, “Southwestern Michigan Association of Realtors is committed to strengthening our community and helping meet hospital and patient needs through blood donations,” and adds, “This blood drive is our way of giving staff, colleagues, and neighbors an opportunity to help save lives.”
Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors. With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, blood products must be constantly replenished, according to the American Red Cross.
Dalrymple says, “We urge community members to donate blood and help ensure that patients in local hospitals have a supply of blood ready and waiting before an emergency occurs. There’s no better feeling than knowing that your blood donation may give someone a second chance at life.”
According to the American Red Cross, donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types O-negative, A-negative and B-negative.
