If you are looking for food, fellowship, and Spartan spirit, you will find it at the Berrien County Sportsman Club on Tuesday, June 14th, for the annual Berrien County MSU Spartans Alumni Steak & Suds event.
This event first debuted in 1986, when a group of Spartans decided to hold an informal gathering once a year, for a social night of camaraderie and cheer. This fundraising event helps promote the Berrien County Spartans Endowed Scholarship Fund, which provides financial aid to MSU students that qualify. 50/50 raffle tickets will be available to purchase for the fund, or a direct donation can be made to the scholarship.
This 34th Steak & Suds event is dedicated to the memory of Larry Smith, co-founder and former club president. What began as a small gathering has since grown, now with over 500 participants, and this year the group plans to recognize past club President, Bob Gerbel, for his service.
The venue for Steak & Suds, the Berrien County Sportsman Club, is located at 2985 Linco Road in Berrien Springs. Tickets are $35 each and are only available online, until May 31st or until the event sells out, and there will be no ticket sales at the door. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will be served from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. To purchase tickets, visit the event’s eventbrite page, and follow the Berrien County MSU Alumni Facebook for updates.
