The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy has scheduled a virtual hearing to consider a request from Indeck Energy Service in Niles to amend its air emissions permit. The natural gas plant is seeking to change the permit to reflect the equipment that is actually on site. EGLE says the permit it’s requesting would lower the emissions it’s allowed to produce. Indeck asked for the amendment this summer, and EGLE started taking public comments in July. Due to a member of the public requesting it, the hearing has been scheduled for September 6 at 6 p.m. You can register in advance to attend, or just enter the virtual hearing at its scheduled time.
