A lifelong resident of Berrien County has garnered the high reward known as Honors of the Association from the Indiana Speech Language Hearing Association, or simply ISHA at their April 2021 convention.
Dr. Susan Olney Latham of St. Joseph received the recognition of Honors of the Association which recognizes members for their distinguished contributions to the field of speech, language, or audiology and is the highest honor the Association bestows. Honors of the Association recognizes those individuals whose contributions have been of such excellence that they have enhanced or altered the course of the professions.
Dr. Latham was elected President of the Indiana Speech Language Hearing Association in 2018 and served the association in that capacity for two years. She is the current Past President of ISHA and has served on the Executive Council for 8 years.
Latham is the founding Chair of the Department of Speech Language Pathology and also the founding Director of the Master’s in Speech Language Pathology at Saint Mary’s College in South Bend.
She has received several awards for her work with students including the first Donald R. and Nora Barry Fisher Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence from Saint Mary’s College. Latham serves on the Board of Trustees at Saint Mary’s College and is President of the Board of Directors for Saint Mary’s & Notre Dame Early Childhood and Development Center (ECDC). She also serves on the Board of Directors for Green Bridge Growers and the Curious Kids’ Museum. Locally, she serves the community as a member of the Women’s Service League.
Dr. Latham is a life-long resident of Berrien County, who is known for her creativity, innovation, leadership, teaching excellence and commitment to serving children and families most in need.
