St. Joseph Valley Parkway Resurfacing Project Near Niles Starts Tuesday

A nearly $1-million resurfacing project on the St. Joseph Valley Parkway, US-31, near Niles gets underway following the Memorial Day Weekend, as the Michigan Department of Transportation prepares to fix US-31 from US-12 to the Michigan-Indiana state line.

MDOT says the US-31 resurfacing project will start on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 with an estimated completion date of Monday, August 30, 2021.

MDOT will be resurfacing 6.5-miles of US-31 between the Michigan/Indiana state line and US-12 in Berrien County. The $987,000 investment includes crack sealing, patching, and chip sealing, designed to preserve the pavement and extend the life of the roadway. They say that ride quality and safety will be improved for drivers along the route, however, during the construction process there will be traffic restrictions including single-lane closures on US-31 throughout the project, shown on the map accompanying this story as shown online at MI Drive.
