St. Joseph Today is taking over the Makers Trail Festival in Bridgman. St. Joseph Today Director Amy Zapal tells us the annual summer event at Weko Beach features dozens of locally made wines, beers, and other spirits, along with music and food. The Greater Bridgman Area Chamber and Growth Alliance has asked St. Joe Today to take the lead on it.
“The Bridgman CGA has done such a phenomenal job with that event, and I think they are hoping to focus on some other things and allow us to produce the event because we are event producers,” Zapal said. “The bottom line is the CGA is focusing on some other economic development initiatives and they’ve asked us to produce the event.”
Zapal says as an organization that plans events, St. Joseph Today found the Makers Trail Festival a good fit.
“This event is a large scale event. It involves highlighting some of the best businesses we’ve got in our area. Those brewers, distillers, wineries, meateries, and cideries who employ people, who attract people here, who provide some really cool assets for our community.”
Zapal says St. Joseph Today has always had a reach that goes beyond just St. Joseph, adding “southwest Michigan is really one community in my mind.” The Makers Trail Festival is set for June 10 from 1 to 7 p.m. As always, there will be shuttles to take attendees from town to the beach. Tickets will go on sale at on April 1 at MakersTrailFestival.org.
