Breckyn Bussey, an 18-year-old graduate of St. Joseph High School, has earned the title of Miss Southwest, the Blossomtime pageant announced Monday. Dylan Curtis, of Portage, was named Miss Southwest Outstanding Teen.
Miss Southwest and Southwest Teen title holders are the only authorized representatives from Southwest Michigan to go on to compete in June at the State level for Miss Michigan.
Bussey is a freshman at Grand Valley State University, and is studying Pediatric Nursing. Breckyn’s talent selection was an Acrobatic Jazz Dance, “Dangerous,” by Michael Jackson. Breckyn’s platform is “Flippin’ for Fitness.”
Curtis is a 15-year-old sophomore at Portage Central High School. Both ladies will represent Miss Southwest and Miss Southwest Outstanding Teen at the state finals June 16-17.

The Miss Southwest Michigan Pageant is the only licensed affiliate in Berrien County to be a part of the Miss America Organization and recognized using the Miss Southwest and Miss Sunset Pageant names.
