St. Joe School Board Seals Deal with New Superintendent Jennifer Fee

A deal has been struck, and with it, the St. Joseph Public Schools have their new Superintendent today.

At a special meeting of the St. Joseph Public Schools Board of Education today, Tuesday, April 13th, the board voted to approve a contract with new superintendent, Jennifer Fee. The Board unanimously agreed to the terms of the three year contract, which includes a base salary of $158,000.

Barry Conybeare, Board President, says, “We are pleased to announce a contractual agreement with Mrs. Fee to become our next Superintendent of Schools.  Jenny will begin her duties as Superintendent of St. Joseph Public Schools on July 1st. As a Board, we are looking forward to her leadership in ensuring high levels of learning and well-being for all at SJPS.”

Fee was selected by the Board from an applicant pool of nineteen educators. She has extensive administrative experience with the East Grand Rapids Public School District having served as the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, ten years serving as the High School Principal and two years as their Assistant High School Principal. She was a classroom teacher for eight years in East Grand Rapids and also taught in Denver, Colorado, and Miami, Florida.

Throughout the process the board received guidance from the Michigan Leadership Institute and input from the staff and community. Conybeare says, “We’re incredibly grateful to our staff and community members who provided thoughtful feedback on all candidates throughout this process,” and concludes, “The feedback from our stakeholders who know our District was imperative in choosing a superintendent who will move us forward with what is best for our students at the forefront.”
