Sports Radio WSBT to be heard on 106.1 FM

Sports fans: listen up! Sports Radio WSBT will be available for listeners in Southwest Michigan starting at noon this Thursday.

Bill Gamble, Content Director for the Mid-West Family Marketing & Media-owned station, said while it’s bittersweet to say goodbye to the alternative music format on QYQ, he’s excited about expanding sports coverage in Southwest Michigan.

“WSBT brings a lineup of strong sports talent, and when paired with WSJM, it strengthens our position in the market, ensuring we remain the go-to source for news & sports information in the region.”

With its first broadcast in 1922, WSBT Radio has been the voice of regional sports for more than one hundred years. It’s the official broadcasting partner of Notre Dame Football, Women’s and Men’s Basketball, Notre Dame Hockey, and the South Bend Cubs. WSBT also airs the NCAA Men’s basketball tournament.

Posts on The New QYQ website and social media pages broke the news to listeners earlier Wednesday.

“Thank you for being a listener to the new QYQ; we’ve enjoyed being your station for new music discovery. But all good things come to an end… the good news is you can listen to great new AND old alternative music on Live 99.9, just down the (radio) dial.”

Gamble said QYQ listeners will be happy to learn 99.9 FM has a bigger signal and better reception.

“And the best part, 99.9 Live plays everything alternative from today to back in the day. Listen now over the air on 99.9 FM or online at live999radio.com.”
