Southwest Michigan water quality survey now online

The Southwest Michigan Planning Commission has launched a new water quality survey for residents of Berrien and Cass counties.

The commission’s Bekah Schrag tells us the organization periodically conducts these surveys to gauge public perceptions of groundwater issues.

“We ask questions about how households dispose of materials like oil and fluids and fertilizers to help us gain an understanding of whether more education needs to be happening on this or if we’re doing a good job with that,” Schrag said. “And we ask questions about green infrastructure and rain gardens and whether or not people know what the benefits of those are.”

Schrag says the planning commission wants to know if people are aware of the things they can do to keep groundwater clean.

The survey will help the Southwest Michigan Planning Commission better plan its programs. It will also help the commission get a sense of how people feel about their environment.

The survey takes about five minutes to complete, and it will be up through at least October. You can find it right here.
