With Labor Day signaling the unofficial end of summer fun, even those working from home throughout the pandemic might appreciate a little change of scenery when returning to work the day after the holiday weekend, and they’ll have an ideal opportunity in the South Haven market thanks to ThinkBar Co-Working.
The new co-working site in the city’s central business district is the first such space in the community, and it throws open the doors on the day after Labor Day, Tuesday, September 8th.
ThinkBar will offer an efficient work environment for entrepreneurs and remote professionals, providing office space, conference room, private call room, creative space, semi-private, and communal style workstations. Tours of the space began last Friday, August 28th.
ThinkBar is opening in the midst of the most explosive growth period for remote work anytime in recent memory. With the COVID-19 restrictions still tightly in place in Michigan and neighboring states, local and visiting professionals, and college students can work from home. ThinkBar Community Manager and Founder, Kayla Weich says, “We have heard from many who are still working from home but sometimes prefer a less distracting work environment, and adds, “We are looking forward to being able to finally accommodate them.”
Though the COVID-19 pandemic has spiked recent growth, a special analysis conducted by FlexJobs and Global Workplace Analytics found a major upward trend in the number of people working remotely in the U.S over the last 12 years. The findings indicate remote work has grown 44-percent in the previous five years, 91-percent over the last ten years, and nearly 160-percent over the last 12 years. According to flexjobs.com, remote work has become the new norm and will continue to increase as having a choice of work environment has become a key factor for many professionals, and more recently as companies reevaluate office necessity.
ThinkBar Founders, Lynzee Krohne, Suzanne Sutherland Loafman, and Kayla Weich are hoping the co-working space will create new economic opportunities for South Haven. Loafman says, “South Haven can now be a hub for remote professionals in Southwest Michigan, bringing incremental year-round consumers to the city. Additionally, those who can work from anywhere can now consider South Haven a viable location to live and work year-round.”Krohne adds, “With a large seasonal population, South Haven can also now accommodate seasonal professionals who may need a temporary, productive workspace.”
ThinkBar is currently offering introductory rates and promotional offers. Those who sign up for a membership in September will receive 20-percent off their first monthly rate. Beginning September 8th, ThinkBar will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30- 6 pm at 610 Phoenix Street on the 2nd floor. The 2,000 square foot boutique co-working space will feature a variety of workspaces, including casual “café” style seating, traditional office workstations, creative space, and collaborative group areas. Amenities include wi-fi, video conferencing abilities, and print/scan/fax. Conveniently located downtown, the space is steps away from restaurants, public parking, and retail.
ThinkBar is following COVID-19 guidelines, keeping workstations six feet apart, requiring masks in common areas, and implementing a stringent cleaning protocol.
