South Haven Rotarians Keep Tradition Alive Even in Pandemic

South Haven Rotarians are a hearty bunch, and they’ve decided that the pandemic will not keep them from their traditional assist to the Salvation Army by supplying bell ringers for the annual Red Kettle brigade.

While the photos accompanying this story on Moody on the Market show their beaming smiles from previous years, the Rotarians promise all of their bell ringers will be masked up and will follow all COVID outdoor protocols when they hit the streets of South Haven this coming Saturday, December 19th.

Rotarian Bob Stickland, Chairman of the project, shown on the right, says that the long standing tradition of ringing the bells for the Salvation Army is an annual project that started in 1982. On Saturday morning, the 19th, beginning at 7 am Rotarians will be outside the Golden Brown Bakery on Phoenix Street (until noon) and at both entrances of the South Haven Walmart (until 5 pm). Last year generous South Haven residents and friends donated $1,500 to the effort manned by the South Haven Rotary Club.
