South Haven Ice Rink Revises, Updates, Operating Schedule

Ice skating fans in South Haven will be back to a full week of options beginning immediately. The truncated Wednesday through Sunday schedule has been expanded back to the 7-day a week operation that was in place during the holidays following action by the city to revise the schedule.

As a result, the City of South Haven Ice Rink has revised the days of operation to seven days a week with open skate hours from 3 pm – 8 pm daily.

An ice rink attendant will be present during open skate times to ensure all ice rink rules and MDHHS guidelines are followed.

The City is taking all necessary precautions to ensure a safe environment for staff, residents, and visitors during the 2020-2021 skate season. This year, patrons can expect some operational changes due to the Covid 19 pandemic and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) guidelines, including these rules:

  • Face masks must always be worn, on and off the ice
  • Rink capacity is limited to 20 skaters on the ice at any given time
  • Spectators and participants are expected to stay 6 feet apart

Skating at the rink is free this season, however concessions and skate rentals will not be accessible for this year. Skaters are encouraged to limit their skate time to 30-minute intervals so that during this year’s limited capacity, everyone can enjoy the rink. It is recommended to dress accordingly for all weather conditions, as the indoor rink office will be closed.

Authorities ask everyone to keep in mind, the ice rink operations are subject to change, taking into account any modifications associated with the Covid-19 pandemic guidelines or weather conditions. All updates or changes to the ice rink operations will be posted to the City’s website and Facebook page.
