South Haven Area Emergency Services Takes Delivery on New Rescue Truck

There aren’t many communities across America where firefighters can take delivery of a brand new Rescue Truck manufactured by people who live in the very same town. Fortunately for the South Haven Area Emergency Services team, Spencer Manufacturing of South Haven is part of their hometown pride, and delivered the new rescue vehicle to the department on Friday afternoon.

The heavy rescue vehicle was made by Spencer Manufacturing of South Haven and will replace the 1998 Rescue Truck when it goes into service in the days ahead. The cost of the new rig, including equipment placed on board, was $440,000. Rescue One will respond to emergencies ranging from vehicle crashes to water rescues to fires. Personnel will have the ability to refill firefighter’s air bottles at the scene of fires with the new vehicle, and a state-of-the-art LED tower will light up scenes wherever the unit is pressed into action.  The truck was designed by a committee of South Haven Area Emergency Services members.

South Haven Area Emergency Services serves the City of South Haven and townships of Casco, Geneva and South Haven. The department responded to a record 2,358 calls in 2020 and is already on pace to surpass that number this year.
