Snow Emergency Declared in Benton Harbor

The City of Benton Harbor has declared a Snow Emergency, which means that residents are being asked to stay off the roads and to also remove vehicles parked on city streets to make way for the snow plows.

City Manager Darwin Watson released this brief statement today, making the formal declaration of the Snow Emergency:

“As of Noon on 01/28/2018 a Snow Emergency has been declared in the City of Benton Harbor.  During this time it is asked that you stay off the roads in the city and if you have a vehicle parked on the street, to also move that vehicle so that the snow removal crews can clear the streets in a safe manner.  If vehicles are impeding the flow of traffic or snow removal they can be removed at the owner’s expense.

Thank you for your continued patience as the DPW works to clear the streets.”

Darwin Watson, City Manager, City of Benton Harbor

Public Works crews in the city have been working on snow removal throughout the afternoon following measurable snowfall across the region that shuttered many schools, businesses, organizations and other groups and institutions.
