“Sleeping Beauty” presented by Studio Dance Theatre in April

The Studio Dance Theatre is celebrating its 48th season with the production of

“The Sleeping Beauty”. It will be presented on April 1, at 3 and 7 PM at the Lakeshore Community

Auditorium. This show will benefit United Way of SW MI. Tickets are available for advance purchase or at the door 30 minutes before the showtimes.

The “Studio Dance Theatre” (SDT) was founded in 1975 by Rhonda Rabbers and is open by audition to

all experienced dancers. Its three-fold purpose is to:

1.) Provide an opportunity for, and educate, the serious young dancer in the field of the performing arts,

2.) Provide the community with a dance company to present concerts locally,

3.) Make an annual contribution to a local charity.

The company consists of 60 talented dancers from southwest Michigan. This production’s proceeds.

will benefit United Way of SW MI.    Tickets are $8.00 for children 12 & unde.  r and $15.00 for adults and may be purchased at the door. For advance tickets or group sales please vonysvy Dance Arts at 429-5711.

A coloring contest is being held to win tickets. Coloring sheets may be picked up at your local library

or at Dance Arts. There will be one winner in each age category….> up to 5 year olds, >6 to 9 year olds, and >10-13 year olds.

“The Sleeping Beauty“ is a fairy-tale ballet everyone will enjoy! Com

The story is based on the fairy tales written by Charles Perrault. The music was written by the famous

Russian composer Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The ballet was first performed in 1890 at the Maryinski Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia. It was the finest achievement of French choreographer Marius Petipa.

Princess Aurora will be played by Chloe Kibler of St. Joseph, and Prince Florimund, by Jake Gamit,

guest artist from Western Michigan University.
