Skywest Airlines To Be Awarded South Bend International Airport Partner Of The Year

The St. Joseph County Airport Authority Board of Directors will present the Partner of the Year award to SkyWest Airlines at its board meeting on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. in the board room at South Bend International Airport (SBN). The Partner of the Year award is bestowed to a business partner who has made significant accomplishments within the past year that have contributed to the ongoing success and services offered at SBN.

SkyWest had fundamental roles in two of SBN’s annual events in 2022: Aviation Education Day and the Bears in the Air kick-off party. They supplied a CRJ700 at Aviation Education Day and offered interior tours along with an engine showcase by airframe and powerplant (A&P) mechanics. In December, they hosted the Bears in the Air kick-off party in their hangar, the largest on SBN’s airfield. Both events provided an opportunity for the community to become more familiar with SkyWest and get a glimpse into their operational space. Accepting on behalf of SkyWest is Chris Hawes, manager of maintenance.

“SkyWest played a major role in taking our events to new levels last year,” said SBN CEO and Executive Director Mike Daigle. “The aircraft and hangar were both hits at their respective events, and we thank SkyWest for their partnership and willingness to share their resources to continuously grow the impact that aviation has on our community.”

“We are honored to be selected as South Bend International Airport’s Partner of the Year,” said Wade Steel, SkyWest’s Chief Commercial Officer. “SkyWest appreciates our strong partnership with South Bend International and the many ways we’ve been able to give back where our people live and work.”
