Anybody in Michigan knows that summer time is construction time in the Great Lakes State, and St. Joseph City officials are working to stay as proactive as possible in keeping you advised of projects that might land in or around your neighborhood, or might otherwise slow your progress through certain parts of town.
City staff has asked us to flag a couple of community forum open house opportunities for several of those projects so that you will be aware of all of the plans and have the chance to ask questions on several of the larger projects in town.
The first of the Open House meetings is a Wallace Avenue Open House, slated for Tuesday, August 15th from 5:30pm to 7pm at St. Joseph City Hall, located at 700 Broad Street in the city. The purpose of that meeting is to take citizen comments on three different concept plans for the upcoming Wallace Avenue Reconstruction Project in the area running between S. State Street and Lakeshore Drive. That project links the former Jefferson School building area to the St. Joseph High School neighborhood and beyond.
The second Open House event will be a week later, on Tuesday, August 22nd from 6pm until 8pm, also at St. Joseph City Hall. That one is being called an Infrastructure Funding Open House. It will mark the third public meeting related to the city’s Stormwater, Asset Management and Wastewater Grant — or the SAW Grant as it is known. The session will focus on the Capital Improvement Plan which has been developed as part of the SAW Grant and the rate and tax adjustments necessary to fund those projects.
Both sessions are open to the general public and will be held in the second floor City Commission chambers at City Hall.
