SJ Architect Earns National Platform Recognition

When you are one of more than 20,000 architects nationwide, having one of your projects selected as the home page photo for one of the most prestigious directories of the entire profession is an honor beyond compare. Such is the case for St. Joseph Architect John Allegretti.

An Allegretti design for a private residence in Saugatuck which was completed in 2010 is the feature photo on the cover page for ArchitectsUSA.com. That’s a professional Internet directory or more than 20,000 architectural firms across the United States.

The Saugatuck home, created for a fiber artist, her husband and their two college-aged sons, crafted a vacation getaway and fiber arts studio on a steeply sloping site in the critical dunes along the shores of Lake Michigan in Saugatuck. The 2,050 square foot, two-story home with walk-out basement is pictured in the photo provided by Jim Yochum.

The Saugatuck home received Platinum LEED for Homes ratings, and John Allegretti tells me, “Shepherding the owner through the evolving processes and organization of the newly emerging LEED for Homes requirements, our firm has explored the best methods to achieve an outstanding design as well as provide the 84 LEED points necessary to achieve the Platinum rating.” His team worked with Lamar Construction of Holland taking the home through design, contract documents, bidding and negotiation, and construction.

Architects USA is a family owned and operated business headquartered in Bellingham, Washington, designed as a complete directory connecting architects and clients for the past 20 years.
