Simply escaping from modern-day slavery is a veritable maze of obstacles and dead-ends that cause many people to lose hope. The Southwestern Michigan Human Trafficking Task Force exists to shine a light and lead the way to end labor and sex trafficking in our own hometowns of Michigan's Great Southwest. You can help that cause immensely by taking part in Michigan's first ever Corn Maze 5K. It's the A-Maze-Ing 5K Corner Maze and it's slated to take place on Thursday, October 6th at 6:15pm, in partnership with the Sunset Coast Striders.
It's your chance to walk or run your way through a lighted maze that night. It is a totally family friendly 5K race and non-scary costumes are welcome. Best of all, paid pre-registrations, which can be accomplished by clicking the link below, will earn a cool NiteBeams LED cap to light your own way through the maze as you shine a light on human trafficking.
The event takes place at Barbott Farms & Greenhouse at 7155 Cleveland Avenue in Stevensville. Cost is $25 for early registration on or before September 29th and rises to $30 for late registration (with no cap guarantee) and $35 if you wait until race day to register (also, no cap guarantee). Fees for children 12 and under is $15, and strollers are admitted for free (but no cap is included).
You can register online at the link below, and all proceeds go to Berrien Strong law enforcement human trafficking awareness and education efforts throughout Southwestern Michigan. The event goes off regardless of weather, so plan to dress accordingly.
