A popular staple of the South Haven community is closing its doors.

Sherman’s Dairy Bar announced on social media Tuesday that 2024 will be its last season.

Sherman’s writes, “We have loved being part of your summer traditions for 66 seasons, and we know many of you have fond memories of a scoop at Sherman’s.” Sherman’s invited fans to share their favorite memories in the comments and to stop by before it closes.

The ice cream shop’s last day will be October 26.

Sherman’s started as a dairy farm in 1916 and had a horse drawn wagon delivery service in the community. After passing to a new generation, it started making ice cream in the 1950s. A distinctive feature of the business is the blue cow — named Blue Moo — on the roof.

Sherman’s did not say in the Facebook post why it’s closing.
