Seminar series seeks to help non-profits adapt to a changing world

Non-profit organizations are finding themselves in a rapidly changing situation as government funding and support for a wide range of activities are being questioned, reviewed and sometimes reduced.

Berrien Community Foundation, Corewell Health Foundation Southwest Michigan and United Way of Southwest Michigan are offering two timely workshops designed to equip nonprofit leaders with essential skills for navigating today’s complex environment.

The first workshop, “Scenario Planning in a Changing Funding Landscape,” is designed to help nonprofit leaders prepare for an uncertain future. Through hands-on exercises, expert insights and real-world case studies, attendees will learn how to craft meaningful scenarios, explore their impact across key organizational functions and make decisions that align with their mission and values.

The second workshop, “Advocacy in a Complex Environment,” will dive into strategies for effective advocacy in today’s complex environment. Drawing from key lessons of the 2024 election and the shifting currents of public opinion, this session will equip nonprofit organizations with strategies to influence both policymakers and stakeholders.

Experienced facilitators from the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University will lead each workshop. The center, located in Grand Rapids, is global leader in helping individuals and organizations understand, strengthen and advance philanthropy. Sponsoring the workshops alongside Berrien Community Foundation are Corewell Health Foundation Southwest Michigan and United Way of Southwest Michigan.

Space is limited, and a maximum of two people per organization are permitted to attend.
