Icy conditions greeted many drivers across the region this morning following an overnight mixture of rain and snow causing several slide offs on area roads including a semi that left I-94 near Bridgman around 7am.
Baroda-Lake Township Police report that they were called out to assist at the scene of a single vehicle accident involving a semi that left the eastbound interstate near the 18 mile marker.
Authorities were still on the scene after 10am, and say that the driver had to be extricated from the cab of the rig before being take to Spectrum Health Lakeland.
No other vehicles were involved in the early morning crash.
Baroda-Lake Township Police were assisted at the scene by Lake Township Fire Rescue, Lincoln Township Fire Rescue, Bridgman City Fire Rescue, Bridgman City Police, Michigan State Police, Berrien County Hazmat, Medic 1 Ambulance and officials from the Michigan Department of Transportation.
