A big tent has popped up in St. Joseph in an unlikely spot at an unlikely time—mid-Winter.
What’s it all about?
It’s the first-ever Sandbar & Grille New Year’s Eve party, benefitting the St. Joseph Lions Club.
Sandbar owner Tom Jennings is a St. Joe Lions Club member and has enlisted several other Lions members to help run and organize the big party Tuesday night to ring in 2025. All proceeds after expenses will be donated to the Lions Club for its various annual projects, including Lions Park improvements, operation of Camp LEO for special needs kids, and several activities and scholarships at St. Joseph Public Schools.
Jennings erected a huge 4,000 square foot heated tent (50’x80’) immediately behind the Sandbar. It will feature tables and chairs for a party crowd, a bar, a full dinner buffet plus early appetizers and a champagne toast at midnight.
Highlighting the party will be a band that’s been drawing crowds for years in Illinois, Indiana and Michigan “P.S. Dump Your Boyfriend.” The band was a frequent headliner at Jennings’ former downtown St. Joseph music club ‘Czar’s 505.’ He hopes ‘P.S. fans’ will turn out to welcome the band back and party into ’25.
Jennings emphasizes that the tent will be heated and entirely weatherproof. There will be parking available in nearby lots, unused ‘after hours,’ with doors opening at 5pm, opening band ‘Shiver’ at 6 and ‘P.S.’ at 8:30. The music goes on until 12:30am, with festivities continuing.

$80 per couple or $45 for a single admission, including admission, appetizers, dinner buffet, midnight champagne toast, party favors and musical entertainment. Cash bar.
