There’s nothing worse than arriving at a strong affinity for a certain product or brand and realizing that your desire to partake is thwarted by a simple thing like accessibility. In other words, you can’t get the product because the source is closed when your desire strikes. If you have arrived at that stage for the great taste of a Round Barn Sangria or their signature Crantini, you’ll soon be able to stock up for whenever the feeling hits.
After 22 years of selling exclusively from its family of properties in Southwest Michigan’s wine region, Baroda-based Round Barn Winery is entering the retail channel in mid-May with canned Red Sangria and Crantini products that are among the first craft canned wines on the market.
Inspired by the popularity of the versions served at the winery, Round Barn’s new 12 oz/355 ml sparkling wine beverages will initially be distributed at more than 150 Meijer stores and other regional groceries in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin. Two additional products in the collection will be released in mid-summer.
The launch coincides with a recent surge in sales of canned wine from less than $2 million in 2012 to more than $28 million today. The growth has been spurred by convenience, portability, non-breakability and single-use portions that eliminate the need to open an entire bottle of wine.
Round Barn’s new Red Sangria blends “Red wine made from the winery’s proprietary grapes with natural peach, cranberry and lemon concentrates to create a fruity, ready-to-drink, not-too-sweet sangria with a touch of carbonation and 5.9-percent alcohol.”
Round Barn’s new Crantini combines “White wine produced from the company’s vineyards with natural cranberry and lemon concentrates to deliver a light, bubbly libation infused with the distinctive taste of cranberries and 4.15-percent alcohol.”
No high-fructose corn syrup, artificial coloring or artificial flavors are used in either beverage.
Matt Moersch, whose parents founded Round Barn Winery and who heads up the 4th largest winery in the state as CEO of Moersch Hospitality Group, including sister brands Tabor Hill and Free Run Cellars, says, “Our Red Sangria and Crantini products will hit store shelves just in time for summer activities from backyard barbecues to beach, boat or golf course outings – no mixing needed.” He adds, “It’s a new chapter in a family business that has been dedicated to locally sourced wine, craft beers and spirits for more than two decades.”
The first public release of the new products will be at the winery’s annual Sangria Party on May 4th at the Round Barn Estate in Baroda, followed by distribution to the retail marketplace shortly thereafter. For more information, you can visit online at this link: https://roundbarn.com
