Retiring Kruggel Lawton CPA Will Anchor Business Valuation Services for the Firm

The team at Kruggel Lawton CPAs is losing a Partner in the firm to retirement, however, they’re gaining him back as Director of Business Valuation Services. That’s a newly-created role designed for Douglas Osthimer.

Kruggel Lawton has announced that Osthimer has retired from a Partner role in the firm, but quickly added that he will continue in the newly-created role of Director of Valuation Services. In that role, they say that Doug will continue to lead engagements to determine the value of businesses for buy/sell agreements, mergers and acquisitions, as well as litigation matters. Scott Dawson, CPA, CVA, MBA, also a Director in the firm, will join Doug and other staff members in meeting clients’ valuation needs throughout the communities in which Kruggel Lawton serves, including St. Joseph.

After joining the firm in 1988, Doug became a Partner in 1990. He has helped grow the firm and contributed to the success of numerous companies and also charitable organizations in the South Bend region. In addition to advising and serving clients on a wide range of business issues, Doug has developed and leads the firm’s business valuation practice, earning a reputation for excellence among the region’s legal community.

Doug holds a B.S. degree from Purdue University, and his active professional credentials include Certified Public Accountant; Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA); and Certified Global Management Accountant. He has been actively involved in a diverse array of community organizations, including River Bend Cancer Services; The Music Village; Big Brothers/Big Sisters; WVPE and others. Doug is also well-known and appreciated for his auctioneering services at fundraising events.

Barry Hall, Kruggel Lawton’s Managing Partner, says, “Our partners and I view Doug as much more than a colleague, rather as a friend, and we could not be prouder and more delighted with his transition,” while adding, “With Doug’s deep ties and family business heritage in South Bend, a remarkable skill set, and passion for making a difference, our firm remains stronger than ever and well-equipped to serve as trusted advisors in our communities.”

Scott Dawson joined Kruggel Lawton in December 2019 with over twenty years of public accounting/consulting and CFO experience in technology and manufacturing companies. In addition to his CPA and CVA certifications, Scott also has a B.S. in Accountancy from Marquette University; an MBA from the University of Maryland; and a Master’s in Accountancy from Michigan State University.

Kruggel Lawton’s St. Joseph offices are located at 526 Upton Drive near the shores of Lake Michigan.
