He’s already one of the friendliest and most approachable master chefs anywhere in Michigan’s Great Southwest, but if you have longed for the opportunity to witness the magic of Celebrity Chef Tim Foley up close and personal, you will do well to line up your tickets in a hurry for his upcoming “Culinary Inspirations” cooking demonstration and dinner to benefit the Heritage Museum in St. Joseph.
Tim Foley is the mastermind behind both Bit of Swiss Bakery alongside Tosi’s Restaurant in Stevensville, and the amazingly popular bread+bar along the St. Joseph River front in Benton Harbor, and he will showcase his Culinary Inspirations on Friday, March 31st in a special benefit dinner and demonstration at the Heritage Museum & Cultural Center in St. Joseph.
Chef Foley, his own enterprises of Bit of Swiss and bread+bar and the Heritage Museum and Cultural Center invites everyone to enjoy a cooking demonstration and dining experience featuring his “Culinary Inspirations,” where you will enjoy not only his instruction, guidance and encouragement to craft such fine cuisine in your own home, but also enjoy being served a small-plates style dinner of the dishes he will be presenting.
Tickets to this one-of-a-kind event are just $40, and they are on sale online now at culinary.theheritagemcc.org and also available for purchase in person at Bit of Swiss, bread+bar, and the Heritage Museum. Ticket sales will end the morning of March 27 or when the event has reached capacity, whichever comes first.
As many locals know, Bit of Swiss has been Southwest Michigan’s premiere baker of artisan breads and pastries since 1967. The Stevensville shop was recently named Retail Bakery of the Year by Modern Baking magazine. Owner/ baker Tim Foley has also delighted local foodies since the 2013 launch of his restaurant bread+bar by Bit of Swiss on Riverview Drive in Benton Harbor.
Tim tells us, “For this event at the Heritage Museum, the dishes I will prepare are favorites of mine I have tasted through my travels, and recreated.” In addition to providing printed recipes for guests to take home, Foley will offer a question and answer time while dinner is being served, for an even more personal showcase.
The menu for “Culinary Inspirations” on March 31 includes: Portobello mushroom & arugula salad with pistachio vinaigrette; Classic Portuguese Stew with chorizo, clams, and pork; and Dessert. The $40 ticket includes soft drinks, a table appetizer, the Cooking Demonstration with take-home recipes, and the small plates style dinner with table service. A Cash Bar will be available. Doors will open at 6:00pm, with the Demonstration to begin at 7:00pm.
Tracy Gierada is Interim Executive Director at the Heritage Museum. She says, “The Heritage Museum team is incredibly grateful for the generosity of Tim Foley, Bit of Swiss, and bread+bar in making this benefit possible. We’re beyond excited for what will be a fabulous night of great food.”
